Heavy Vehicle Training
We offer training in all heavy vehicle categories from Light Rigid to Multi-Combination.

  • Light Rigid Course.
  • Medium Rigid Course.
  • Heavy Rigid Course.
  • Heavy Combination Course.
  • Multi-Combination Course.
  • A VicRoads theory test needs to be completed by everyone upgrading from a car licence to a heavy vehicle licence.

The Bus and Truck handbook must be read prior to the theory test. This can be purchased from either VicRoads or a newsagents.

All of our practical training is one-on-one.

We believe our clients learn a lot more, and feel more comfortable with their trainer this way.

South West Training & Assessment is an accredited VicRoads provider for heavy vehicle training and testing.

    Our Staff

All training is undertaken by professional, courteous and friendly staff and tests are conducted by VicRoads accredited testers.

    Plant Training
  • Fork Lift.
  • Front-End Loader.
  • Skid Steer.
  • Excavator.
  • The assessment comprises of both theory and practical demonstration.

Once you are deemed competent to drive in the chosen Heavy Vehicle category, you will need to take your Certificate of Competency to VicRoads, and pay the licence endorsement fee.
You CAN NOT drive this category of vehicle until you have been to VicRoads.

When booking in for your training/ test, we will ask for your full name as it appears on your licence, date of birth, and licence number.
This is so we can complete a check with VicRoads to ensure you are eligible for your chosen category. Please have these ready when you call us.
Also if you have a preferred day or time for training/testing, let us know at this time and we will try to accommodate (please be aware while we do our best, sometimes it is not possible).
Read up on the Bus and Truck Handbook available from VicRoads and newsagents.

On the day of your training/test, remember to bring your licence and Medicare card.
These are used as proof of ID.
If you usually wear glasses to drive, remember to bring them too.
If we have requested any other paper work please be sure to remember these also, as we may be unable to start your training without them.
